The celebration is set to run from 6 PM to 9 PM and will feature food, extended live music, and fellowship for believers to praise and thank Jesus for the victory in Him.
“The healing and freedom that God has brought through the ministry of Celebrate Recovery is incredible. So many lives, including mine, have been changed as we work the 12 steps together,” said Pastor Lynda Keefer, Co-Lead Pastor at Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church. “We are celebrating 15 years of overcoming hurts, habits, and hang-ups of every kind through Jesus. As we always say, it’s recovery for everyone for all of life’s challenges. The whole family is invited to come learn more and celebrate with us! You will be welcomed, embraced, and loved.”
According to their website, “Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12-step program based on the eight principles in the Beatitudes to help us with our hurts, habits, or hang-ups. A hurt, habit, or hang-up is something that hinders our walk with God.
The feeling of being HURT is an emotional reaction to another person’s behavior or a disturbing situation (abuse, abandonment, codependency, divorce, relationship issues, etc.). A HABIT is an addiction to someone or something (alcoholism, drugs, food, gambling, sex, shopping, smoking, etc.). HANG-UPS are negative mental attitudes used to cope with people or adversity (anger, depression, fear, unforgiveness, etc.).
These life problems can be stumbling blocks or stepping stones. Healing is available through applying the principles of a Bible-based recovery process to our lives.”
“We began our Celebrate Recovery program 15 years ago here at Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church,” said Amanda Gonzalez, Outreach Ministry Leader at Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church. “I started to attend Celebrate Recovery 9 years ago and have found freedom from an emotional connection to my belongings, insecurity, & codependency to name a few character defects.” Believing in the mission, Gonzalez also recently became a Celebrate Recovery State Rep for Pennsylvania.
Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church.
