The Antoine Dutot Museum and Gallery in Delaware Water Gap, PA opened their doors for an Artists’ Reception on Friday May 6th to showcase two collections of works that were recently donated to the venue by the family of Rev. Karen E. Nickels who had served as the pastor of the Presbyterian Church of the Mountain in Delaware Water Gap. PA from January 1988 until her retirement in March 2011 and by Richard Hawkins. Works included in the collections were by Beverly Abel, David Coulter, Hilda Espy, Gary Kresge, Dona Solliday, Olaf Sigourssen, JJ Travis, Will Rothfuss, and Georges Wenger.
The reception was a well attended one and a great number of conversions filled the gallery with memories and appreciations of those who donated the pieces to the venue. Many pieces were sold throughout the evening whose proceeds will be utilized to continue and enhance the community minded endeavors of the museum and gallery. The Exhibition will continue to be on display until May 15th.
The Antoine Dutot Museum and Gallery in Delaware Water Gap, PA is housed in a brick schoolhouse that was built around 1850 and continued to do so until 1969. The gallery is located on the first floor of the structure while a recreated school room dating back to the 1930s displays and interprets artifacts pertaining to the history of the town is located on the second floor. Museum tours take place from May until October every Saturday and Sunday beginning at 1pm. The next pre-season exhibition at the gallery will be their Retro LOVE and PEACE Exhibition with an Artists’ Reception scheduled for Saturday May 21st beginning at 6pm. The first exhibition of the 2022 season will feature the work of Penny Ross with an Artists’ Reception scheduled for Friday May 27th beginning at 7pm. The exhibition will continue to be on display until June 12th.
