East Stroudsburg Rite-Aid To Close Its Doors

The Rite-Aid in East Stroudsburg will shut its doors for the last time in less than two weeks.

According to an employee who chose to remain anonymous, the 128 N Courtland St Rite-Aid in East Stroudsburg is closing its doors after 16 years of servicing the area on May 16, 2022.

This Rite-Aid has been in the area since Oct 12, 2006, providing many locals with prescriptions, quick stop items such as cigarettes, chips, sodas, and health care services such as screenings, consultations, and vaccines. What was once a sanctum of healing and wellness; will become just another abandoned building in the Poconos.

When asked why the store was closing down, the Rite-Aid employee responded, “Because all we sell are cigarettes, chips, and soda.”

This store has been a staple in the community, providing us with all our needs from healthcare and prescriptions to food products, toiletries, vitamins, and other products people need in a pinch, like eggs and milk. The Poconos is gentrifying and at a rapid pace. Many stores and restaurants in the area are either closing their doors or converting into other businesses.

What was once a great pharmacy and quick stop shop where everybody knows your name; is becoming just another empty building added to the suburban landscape of East Stroudsburg. Customers will have to travel into Stroudsburg to visit the next closest Rite-Aid, located at 228 Main St Stroudsburg, PA.
