Fly Into Aviation Day This Sunday

Are you afraid of flying? If so, there is no need to worry as the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport will be bringing its aviation vehicles to the ground for this low-cost, family-friendly event, with a portion of proceeds benefiting a good cause.

On Sunday, May 29, The Rotary of Mt Pocono will be hosting the Fly-In Drive-In Pancake Breakfast to recognize the 25th Annual Aviation day. Families will have the chance to come out for a great breakfast and stay for the airplane & military displays, kids activities, antique cars, booth exhibits, a look at the Pocono Raceway Pace Car, and more, including helicopters & airplane rides open to all and free airplane rides for kids ages 8-17 donated by the volunteers from the Young Eagles.

Rain or shine, the event is scheduled from 8 AM to 2 PM. In addition to all the activities listed above, the American Legion will hold a ceremony to cap off the day, which involves a Memorial Day Veterans service and an American flag parachute jump starting at 12 PM. Tickets for the pancake breakfast are $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Parking is $5 per car. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army of East Stroudsburg.

According to a press release from the Rotary of Mount Pocono, “The mission of the Salvation Army of East Stroudsburg is to preserve human dignity while empowering people to reach their potential through honoring heritage, strengthening family values, and meeting human needs. In tough economic times, when thousands of neighbors have been finding it hard to feed their families, the need for services provided by the East Stroudsburg Salvation Army is under even greater pressure.”

“The Rotary Pancake Breakfast was created over 25 years ago to give residents and visitors to our area the chance to come to the airport, see the airplanes, experience helicopter and airplane rides, and generally find out about how to get youth involved with aviation,” says Event Chair Mark Turner. “It has grown to be one of the Mt Pocono Rotary’s largest annual fundraisers with over $200,000 raised and distributed to non-profit and deserving causes throughout the community.”

Event sponsors include Moyer Aviation, Papillon and Moyer Excavation, Hi-Tech Helicopters, Bailey’s Rib & Steak House, Shoprite, Smuggler’s Cove, Besko Outdoor, Sky’s the Limit, Bushkill Group, Desaki, Deni Properties, Eastern Area Supply Inc., Gotta Go Septics, Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport, Pocono Motorsports, Pocono Power Center, Pocono Lions Club, Printing Craftsmen, Pocono Treeventures, Weiler, News Watch 16, Young Eagles, Pocono Springs, Adams Outdoor Advertising, and more.
