Guests and Competitors Have A Banging Time At “She Nailed It”

Friends, competitors, and more arrived on the front lawn at the Shawnee Inn this past Sunday to watch teams compete to support a great cause.

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, the Monroe County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH) held its 5th annual She Nailed It! competition. The objective of She Nailed It! is to pound the most nails into a 2×4 in 4 minutes as a team. Teams are made up of 4 women, alternating between hammering nails and holding the board for 2 minutes. Only nails hammered flush in the board are counted.

This year, She Nailed It! was hosted by Chris Barrett of the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau. The event featured live entertainment provided by DJ MVP, The Lost Ramblers, and Byrd Presley. Vendors offering face painting, food, and handcrafted carvings were present, along with karaoke and raffles for guests to partake in.

Hope Chrisman of the “Fab Four” team was a new participant in this year’s event. “I’ve always been interested in participating, and the opportunity was presented this year, so I jumped on it because I think Habitat for Humanity is just an amazing cause. Part of the reason I came out is because I’m super competitive. There are a lot of great ladies out here today having fun, whether they hammered in a lot or hammered in a few, everybody is having fun, there’s a lot of comradery here, and everybody is doing it for the same reason, for habitat, “said Christman.

For the past three competitions, the “Weiler Warrior Women” team has claimed victory, giving them momentum to defend their title in this year’s competition, but that wouldn’t be enough. Taking home the Bronz Hammers, in 3rd place, was the Hammerheads, who finished with 53 nails. Taking home the Silver Hammers, in 2nd place, was the Stroudsburg Rotary Team banging in 55 nails. Finally, Completely Hammered placed 1st in the competition, taking home the Gold Hammers with a staggering 78 nails. Janet Ferraro of the “Completely Hammered” team was happy about the victory. “The Dan Parrish team from Stroudsburg, Keller Williams put this team together. This was a great event from habitat for humanity and a shoutout to the rotary club of the Pocono mountains for also sponsoring us,” said Ferraro.

She Nailed it! was sponsored by several organizations, including Barbara J. Hill, Better Homes and Gardens Realty, DNA Property Management, Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau, Weiler Abrasives Group, Citizens Savings Bank, ESSA Bank & Trust, RGB Custom Builders, and Stroudsburg’s Rotary.

Proceeds from the event allow MCHFH to continue to work toward its vision of every person in Monroe County having a safe and decent place to live.
