Have you ever wondered what the inside of a fire truck or a MedEvac helicopter looks like? Everyone will have the opportunity to explore these and a lot more on Saturday.
MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA | On Saturday, Sept. 17, the Parks & Recreation Committee will host its second annual Volunteer Fair and a Touch a Truck. Attendees will learn about many of the area’s nonprofit organizations and be offered a chance to get involved. The event will run from 12 pm to 3 pm at Echo Lake Park in East Stroudsburg, PA, with a rain date on Sunday, Sept. 18.
Children of all ages will enjoy exploring emergency vehicles and some of the biggest and coolest road equipment around. All the local fire companies and emergency corps will be present, along with the Lost In Time Car Club. However, the highlight for many will be the LVHN MedEvac helicopter if their schedule permits.
“This is an opportunity for residents to visit with some of our area’s best organizations and learn more about them,” said Parks and Recreation Coordinator Christopher Rain. “These are the people who keep us safe and make our community a better place. We hope this event will connect them with the community and get more people involved.”
This year’s attendees include the Eastern Monroe Public Library Bookmobile, Camp Papillion, Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, Monroe County Meals on Wheels, the Friends of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Monroe County Control Center 911, Pennsylvania Mountain Rescue, Monroe County Historical Association, East Stroudsburg Softball Little League, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Girls on the Run Pocono, Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA, American Red Cross, Family Promise of Monroe County, and Women’s Resources of Monroe County.
Event admission is free. Free parking is available at the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church and the Marshalls Square Mall.
