Litter is disgusting and illegal. Yet, you can’t drive down the street without passing cans, napkins, or other trash that someone has thrown from their vehicles. Keeping our roads and community clean and free from litter and debris is everyone’s responsibility.
MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA | On Saturday, Sept. 24, the public is invited to take part in a fall litter clean-up. The event will begin at the Middle Smithfield Township (MST) Municipal Building and will last from 8 am – 12 pm.
Volunteers are asked to join the Litter & Beautification Committee, Public Works Department, and Adopt-a-Road participants to help pick up litter and debris on local township roads. Bags and cleaning supplies will be provided. Those looking to participate need only show up at the designated time.
Those who are unable to make it to Saturday’s event are welcome to clean up litter in whatever areas they would like at their convenience on any day that works best for them. All are welcome to stop by the Municipal Building to pick up cleaning supplies, such as bags, gloves, and other supplies.
Residents can clean up in their own neighborhoods or public parks, or interested parties can ask MST to direct them to an area that needs cleaning. Participants are asked to just fill the bags and leave them. MST will collect the bags of litter once you are done.
