Monroe County To Hold Final Public Hearing On Community Development Block Grant

Monroe County will hold a public hearing to obtain final comments on the proposed allocation of funds through a grant that the county attends to apply for. 

MONROE COUNTY, PA | On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 9:30 AM, a public hearing to obtain final comments on the proposed use of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds is set to take place in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room on the second floor at the County Administrative Center in Stroudsburg.

In a notice of intent, Monroe County states its intent to make an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (PaDCED) for FFY 2022 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The CDBG funds total $674,785, they are intended to undertake housing and/or community development activities, which will primarily benefit low-to-moderate income persons in various municipalities in Monroe County. Based upon public needs hearings and municipal funding requests, all of which meet the “eligibility” and “fundability” requirements of the CDBG program and none of which will involve displacement or conversion of any housing units, it is proposed that the grant monies be used to undertake the following activities/projects:

East Stroudsburg Borough

$ 129,250 – Street/Road Improvements

$   28,371 – Program Administration

$ 157,621- Total

Stroudsburg Borough

$   95,097 – Street/Road Improvements

$   20,874 – Program Administration

$ 115,971 – Total

Following the public hearing, the County Commissioners will at that time, consider passing a resolution approving the FFY 2021 CDBG application and its submission to the Pa DCED by October 28, 2022. The deadline for Monroe County to submit the application to the Pa DCED is October 28, 2022.
