After five wins and a tie, the Pocono Pride 14u Black team came in first at the Keystone Summer Sizzler tournament in Scranton this past weekend.
Saturday, softball leagues from across NEPA gathered in Scranton to compete in the Keystone Summer Sizzler tournament. The Pocono Pride 14u Black team played four games on Saturday, where they won three and tied another. They went on to compete in two more games on Sunday, where they won the tournament, 10 – 3, in a rematch against the Abington Wildcats, whom they had also beaten earlier in the tournament.
For the summer season, the Pocono Pride 14u Black team is scheduled to compete in the USSSA Play It Forward tournament in Quakertown and the FastPitch Nation Summer Nationals in Connecticut in July.
According to their website, the Pocono Pride Fastpitch Softball Organization’s purpose is to provide the finest possible competition and coaching in the area. This enables all girls to play amateur fastpitch softball in a tournament-level setting within an organization where every individual athlete’s talents can grow and improve. Although the organization strives for our players to excel in the game of fastpitch softball, it also focuses on producing positive role models and productive adults in their community. Pocono Pride Fastpitch has been training and preparing female student-athletes for over 20 years to play softball at the collegiate level. They provide year-round practice at their fields and indoor facility and are constructing a new building for the 2023 season.
For those interested in joining Pocono Pride, tryouts for the 2022/23 season, for all ages, will be held on July 20, from 6 PM to 8 PM.
