With anticipation high, the Stonehaüs Meadery in Stroudsburg will officially open its doors this Saturday.
STROUDSBURG | On Saturday, September 3, the Stonehaüs Meadery will celebrate its grand opening at 2 pm on Main Street during Stroudfest. Many in attendance will have the opportunity to listen to great music and try mead for the first time. A live performance by local musician Walter Lee will begin at 7 pm. WATCH VIDEO.
The concept for the local meadery began after owner and founder Steve Leibig started beekeeping as a hobby in 2012. Searching for creative vessels for his delicious honey, he experimented with mead. “I had heard of mead but I had never tried it myself,” he said. “I made a couple of batches that autumn, and they turned out fantastic, and I’ve just been making mead ever since.”
“Stonehaüs Meadery is a vision I had about a year ago, to share the meads that I make,” said Steve Leibig. “I’ve been making meads for about seven years now, and with all the positive feedback I’ve gotten from family and friends, we just wanted to bring it to light here and share that with everybody.”
The veteran-owned establishment will feature locally sourced beers and, of course, a full menu of meads, including one which is jalapeno based and seems to be a favorite among those who love to spice things up a bit. Visitors can learn about the mead-making process during production tours. There’s also a stage where several local musicians are slated to perform.
“We have a bunch of different acts that are lined up between now and the end of the year, including Walter Lee on our grand opening, Pocono Duo coming, Zac Lawless will be performing one day. We also have some newer acts that are just starting out,” said owner and event coordinator Tricia Leibig. “So we’re really excited to have people come and perform, and I have a lot of people reaching out to me, asking if they can perform on our stage.” See a schedule of upcoming events here.
Stonehaüs Meadery will operate Thursday through Sunday, with private Paint ‘n Sips hosted by Anna Kaszupski every Wednesday. The first will take place on September 7. Book Here.
