Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church To Host Two Events In Observance Of National Suicide Prevention Month

Within a week of each other, the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church has two community events planned to bring awareness, prevention, and hopefully healing to an issue that takes a life every 40 seconds.

STROUDSBURG PENNSYLVANIA | On Saturday, September 23, Members of the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Monroe County will host a Suicide Prevention Event at Stroudsburg’s Wesleyan Church. Then on Wednesday, September 28th, the community is invited to join the church in a Suicide Prevention Awareness Prayer Vigil.

At Saturday’s event, running from 12 PM to 3 PM, local organizations will host games and activities and share how they can support you and your loved ones. The family-friendly event will feature guest speakers, local resource information, free gun locks, music, free food, and games & activities for kids. In partnership with PA National Strategy for Suicide Prevention and coalition members, Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health & Developmental Services, and Community Care Behavioral Health, the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church invites the community to this event to learn ways to promote hope and save lives.

At Wednesday’s event, starting at 6:30 PM, the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church invites the community to join in an open discussion on suicide. This event is meant for participants to hear testimonies, participate in corporate and individual prayer, and hear from local resources. Attendees are invited in joining the Wesylan Church in offering prayer for families, grieving a loss of a loved one, individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts as well as the professionals serving our community.

Every 40 seconds, somewhere in the world, a life is taken by suicide. These community events allow us to focus attention on this and take steps to prevent the future loss of life.
