Take Pride In Your Self, Pocono Pride Festival Comes Stroudsburg This Sunday

Whether you are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender fluid, or an ally, this celebration coming to Stroudsburg is an event where taking pride in yourself and accepting who you are is on full display.

The Pocono Pride Festival began as an idea from a few visionaries wanting more LGBTQ+ representation of the community in the Poconos. They forged a bond over their shared dream to create more inclusion in the Poconos. With the help of community leaders, they marched forward with the LGBTQ+ Business council and decided a Pride Festival was what the community needed, as stated by poconopridefestival.com.

“PRIDE in the Poconos Celebration is an opportunity to champion inclusion and wellness for the LGBTQAI+ community and allies in Monroe County and surrounding areas. This fun day in the heart of Stroudsburg has music, live entertainment, crafts, children’s activities, a teen space, food trucks, and more! Local drag Kings/Queens and DJs will provide all-day entertainment. Resource tables will provide tools and information for staying safe and well. Come celebrate our community’s effort to build a connected, supportive, and well Poconos for all!” poconopridefestival.com stated.

The Pocono Pride Festival was founded by members Michael Moreno, The Pocono Chamber of Commerce, Benny Vukaj of Novus Adult Care Services, Skip Scheetz & Rich Spezzano of the Pocono Center of the Arts, and Erik Diemer from Mite Fight. These founding members came together to create something special for the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating who they are and pushing for more inclusion in the Poconos, according to poconopridefestival.com.

Founding principles include Choosing to stand out for a stronger community and a healthier way to do business. Unified by a love for the Poconos and the people who live in it. Connecting through community and shared experiences, according to poconopridefestival.com.

According to poconopridefestival.com, the Pocono Chamber of Commerce & Novus Medical Services will be partnering with each borough and town to install Pride flags during June throughout Stroudsburg and the surrounding boroughs. The rainbow flag represents the diversity and love among the LGBTQ+ community, helping to increase exposure, and letting everyone know when they see the flag that the Poconos welcomes them with open arms and acceptance. You can show your love and support by donating to the PRIDE Flag Program.
